There was no answer.
“Daunn, answer me, damnit!” “I’m fine.”
I let out a breath I hadn’t known I had been holding, and I heard him as he scrambled to quickly right us—That last hit had jerked us rather hard. “Are you injured?”
“I’m fine.” I heard him insist from behind me, voice a bit more harsh. Another pause and he spoke again, voice soft. “Are you okay?”
“I’m alright.” In all truth, I had smacked my elbow and my knee rather hard, but I’d live.
